Hello. Welcome to Te Whanake.
Tēnā koe. Nau mai ki Te Whanake.
Welcome to Te Whanake Animations. This series of online modules complements the four textbooks of the Te Whanake series for learning te reo Māori. For each module, you will find it an advantage if you have studied the relevant chapter in the particular textbook your are using. More information on the Te Whanake series can be found on the bilingual website http://www.tewhanake.maori.nz.
Each module begins with an animated movie, which you should watch and listen to carefully several times. You'll meet some new friends in these movies, Te Hererīpene, Mīria, Eruera, Tarati, Wiremu, Kiwa and little Neihana.
Nau mai ki Ngā Paki Waituhi o Te Whanake. He kōwae ēnei hei tautoko i ngā pukapuka matua e whā o Te Whanake hei ako i te reo Māori. He kōrero anō mō Te Whanake kei te paetukutuku reo rua http://www.tewhanake.maori.nz.
Me āta mātakitaki, me āta whakarongo ki aua paki waituhi kia mārama ngā kōrero.
You are able to add the Māori text and the English translation to the movies so that you can understand and learn the new language you are hearing. Each movie will introduce the new language of the module.
After watching and listening to the movie, you should try completing the activities and exercises, which are based on the language used in the movie and previous modules. You'll find these listed on the left of your screen.
