Saying something will not be done
In previous modules a number of negative sentences have been discussed, e.g. Kāore anō … kia …
Most negative sentences that involve any action usually have a change in word order from the affirmative sentences.
The same sentence pattern for Kāore anō … kia … applies in this case but anō is dropped and the verb is preceded by e.
It is also important to note that this negative pattern is only used for present and future time.
Hei tauira:

| Kāore te waka e tae mai ināianei. | The car won’t arrive now. |
| Kāore a Māia e tahitahi i te papa. | Māia won’t sweep the floor. |
| Kāore rātou e moe. | They won’t sleep. |

Whiriwhirihia te kōrero Māori hei whakamāori i te kōrero Pākehā.
Don’t forget to use commas, question marks, and fullstops and macrons where appropriate (ā,ē,ī,ō, and ū).
The bus won’t start.
John won’t get up and speak.
They won’t pass him the ball.
The animals won’t eat.
Paul will not listen.
