Asking and giving prices

When asking how much something costs you would say he aha te utu mō te (object)? The object usually follows te and if the object is about something collectively such as children you would ask he aha te utu mō te tamariki? However if the question is referring to particular pens you would ask he aha te utu mō ngā pēne?

When saying how much something costs you would say the amount followed by te utu mo te … There is both a full answer to the question and a short answer.

Hei tauira:

He aha te utu mō te ika?	What does it cost for a fish?
E rua tāra te utu mō te ika.	The fish costs two dollars ($2.00).
OR SIMPLY
E rua tāra.	Two dollars ($2.00).

He aha te utu mō ngā pukapuka?	What does it cost for the books?
E whā tekau mā ono tāra.	Forty six dollars ($46.00).
OR
E whā tekau mā ono tāra te utu mō ngā pukapuka.	The books cost forty six dollars ($46.00).
